This impressive 1930's building called the Senate House contains the library and offices of the University of London. There are also many other buildings belonging to the university in the surrounding area.
The building work on the Senate was financed from a number of sources. The Rockefeller Foundation gave the largest donation totalling £400,000.
King George V laid the foundation stone in 1933, but the building was only finally completed after the Second World War.
