st mary le strandIt's hard to miss St Mary-Le-Strand as it's right in the middle of the road. A church first stood on that spot in 1147, before it was islanded off.
James Gibbs built the present church in the early 1700's. It was his first project after studying baroque architecture in Rome. He later designed St Martin-in-the-Fields.
This is very much Charles Dickens' territory. His parents were married in this church and his father worked just across the road in Somerset House.
