St Mary-le-Bow Church

Sir Christopher Wren rebuilt this church in the 1670's after The Great Fire of London. The church tower contains the famous Bow Bells. It is said that to be a true cockney you must be born within the sound of the Bow Bells.

St Margaret's Church was built by the monks of Westminster to serve the needs of the local people. Westminster Abbey next door was reserved for special purposes, such as the coronations of Kings and Queens.

St Martin-in-the-Fields, built in 1726, is one of London's best-loved churches. The masterpiece of the 18th century architect James Gibbs, it is famous for its work with the homeless and also for its music.

St Olave's Church

This small mediaeval church, close to Fenchurch Street railway station, was saved from the Great Fire of London in 1666 by Samuel Pepys, the diarist, who lies buried under the Sanctuary along with his wife, Elizabeth Pepys.
St Paul's Cathedral
Work on this, the most impressive church in London began in 1675 to a design by SIR CHRISTOPHER WREN. It was built to replace old St Paul's which was destroyed by the GREAT FIRE OF LONDON in 1666.
