St. John's Wood is a leafy, pleasant residential area north of Baker Street and is the home of many diplomats, celebrities and business executives. Although not particularly exceptional in it's own right, St. John's Wood is known to every Englishman as the home of Lord's, the birthplace of cricket. Lord's is one of the most beautiful international cricket grounds in the world and a haven of peace and tranquillity. Members of the MCC (who administer the ground) are known for their affability, reactionary ways (women are only permitted in one room of the pavilion) and bizarre dress sense (their club ties are bright yellow and orange stripes - often adorned with the stains of fine wines).
