HRH Lady Louise
.
Full Name: Louise Alice Elizabeth Mary Mountbatten-Windsor
Full Title: Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor
Born: Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey on November 8, 2003
Life and Times
First child of the Earl and Countess of Wessex, Lady Louise Windsor was born on November 8, 2003, and becomes eighth in succession to the Throne of Britain.
In keeping with the democratic approach of her parents to such matters as titles she will not be an HRH, but will have the courtesy titles due to the daughter of an Earl.
However, she does have a galaxy of illustrious royal names and will be christened as Louise Alice Elizabeth Mary Mountbatten-Windsor, honouring HM The Queen and doubtless delighting Prince Phillip. Princess Louise was a daughter of Queen Victoria, the former Duchess of Gloucester became known as Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester after the death of her husband in 1974, and Princess Alice of Battenberg was the mother of Prince Phillip. The Queen's grandmother was Queen Mary, formerly daughter of the Duke of Teck, who had a daughter Mary, Princess Royal until her death in 1966.
Prince Phillip's family name of Mountbatten was added to the Royal family's name of Windsor in 1960 as a gracious gesture on the part of the Queen in recognition of Prince Phillip's role as her Consort and husband.
Lady Louise was born prematurely by Caesarean section and the first two weeks of her life were anxious, but on 23 November her clearly delighted parents brought their peacefully slumbering daughter home. For the record she also becomes the first member of the Royal Family to be born within the care of the National Health Service.
