You can post your letters in one of the red cylindrical boxes or wall-mounted boxes located all over the place, occasionally in the whimsical settings, most carrying the Royal cipher to remind users of the fact that the passage of the mail is associated with the Crown and has its roots deep in our history.
There are two bands of mail within UK, first class which in theory reaches its destination the day following despatch, and second class which doesn't, though it should only take two days instead of one.

Main Post Offices and some lesser ones, also offer a wide variety of services including state pensions, parcel despatch, car taxation, some licences recorded delivery, special delivery, registered mail and advice on delivery, etc. They are also very helpful in those situations that people tend to think have happened uniquely to them, but which are everyday occurrences to these seasoned veterans.
