World famous race between the universities of Oxford and Cambridge which traditionally marks the start of the London 'Season'. A quarter of million watch from the banks of the Thames and it is broadcast to around 400 million people in 180 countries!
A fine excuse (if you need one) to visit a riverside pub before noon: find a space and stay there! The boat race has taken place yearly since 1829 and has become something of an institution with millions supporting a crew even if they have no connection whatever with either of the towns or universities!
