The final evening of the largest music festival in the world, the Promenade Concerts. Many queue for days for tickets which will allow them to stand (or 'promenade') for this final concert, the second half of which always finishes with rousing patriotic songs such as Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory.
Due to the impossibly high number of applications for tickets, another 'Last Night' is now held in Hyde Park attracting tens of thousands of spectators. The two events merge at the climax of the evening via huge screens and sound systems in order that both sets of audiences can sing the stirring British anthems together.
