Tucked away in the backstreets of Farringdon lies a gem of a pub, owned by the tiny St. Peter's Brewery. The size of a postage stamp and brimming with character, this is exactly how one would imagine an eighteenth century alehouse to have been. Bare boards, an open fire, tiles depicting scenes of Georgian pleasures and excellent beers.
St. Peter's Brewery is situated in a monastery in deepest rural Suffolk: The Jerusalem is their only London presence and the ales are worth a whole evening of tasting. With a range of 12 produced for draught, you should be more than merry before you even think about starting on the 16 bottled varieties. The green oval shaped bottles in which the elixir comes are more reminiscent of the local chemists but by this stage, it may be just as well
