Something of an institution, El Vino's is perhaps London's most venerable wine bar and has served Fleet Street luminaries for many, many years. With a wine list miles long, a dark clubby atmosphere and the presence of women as rare as some of their finest vintage ports, El Vino's is something of a throwback.

Barristers congregate in heavy, pinstriped ten piece suits gulping claret and exchanging loud gossip with journalists who still throng here despite the removal of the newspaper trade from Fleet Street.

If gentlemen's clubs aren't your cup of tea, give El Vino's a wide berth. If however, the atmosphere of heady booze, thick cigar smoke and congenial banter is to your liking, then this is where you'll be spending your days!
